If you're anything like me, your hair goes through a lot. All that styling, swimming, on top of living in a dry climate really takes its toll on my locks. Sometimes you need to give your hair some much needed pampering. What better way to inject some life back into your hair than a homemade hair mask?
What the salon doesn't want you to know is that you can make hair masks at home with as little as 2 basic ingredients. Even when I read about homemade hair masks in magazines they always make my head spin... "Three mashed avocados for a hair mask?! What a waste of food!" I would think to myself while pondering whether or not anyone actually keeps their cabinets regularly stocked with almond oil.
But this hair mask is simple. Using 2 simple ingredients that most kitchens already have, you will enjoy shiny, faster growing hair.
Ingredients: 1 raw egg, 2 teaspoons olive oil.
Choose a day to do this hair mask when you have 1-2 hours to let the mask absorb.
Step 1: Break the egg into the olive oil. I like to nuke the olive oil for about 10 seconds so that the mask is luke warm on my scalp.
Step 2: Whip the egg and olive oil together. You should not see any separation between the olive oil and the egg.
Step 3: Start applying the mask throughout your hair, focusing on the scalp.
Step 4: Once your hair is covered throughout, gently massage your scalp in circular motions with your fingertips for 5-10 minutes. This promotes hair growth.
Shower cap is optional! Allow the mask to soak in for 1-2 hours. When you are ready, wash and condition your hair as usual. You will probably find that you will need to rinse & repeat to get out all the oil. Dry or style as usual.
Done on a regular basis (once or twice per month), this mask will stimulate hair growth and the protein in the egg will strengthen your hair. You really don't need to spend money on hair masks- raw egg and olive oil are all you need!
This hair tip was told to me by a friend named Ayza with long, luscious hair down to her belly button. She said that she used this hair mask to grow out her hair and keep it from breaking. I started to do it a couple months ago and I've noticed that my hair has started to grow a lot faster. Hopefully I will be able to have long beautiful hair like Ayza one day! And I hope you do, too.
